- Bitcoin breaks through $6,600 level but then falls back somewhat
- Altcoins post higher increases than some of the major cryptocurrencies
- Ethereum Classic notches up a 20% increase
Most cryptocurrencies did quite well on Wednesday, managing to hold on to the strong growth they have been recording since Tuesday. Altcoins did particularly well, performing even better than Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin is currently trading at just below $6,300. At one stage yesterday, it actually broke through the $6,600 level before falling back later in the day. Ethereum surged to $300 but also lost some of the gains as the day progressed.
One of the most reluctant performers was Bitcoin cash, which only strengthened by 5% to settle at just above $510 after it traded at $530 at one stage yesterday. Ripple (XRP) also managed to recover some of the major losses it sustained during the last couple of days with a 12% rise. It briefly touched $0.30 during the day but later weakened to $0.288.
EOS also strengthened by nearly 8% within 24 hours and settled at about $4.70. Stellar notched up a lackluster 4% increase to reach $0.22. Litecoin increased by 8% to breach $56 again but still could not recoup much of its recent losses.
Ethereum Classic and NEO both strengthened by more than 15%, but the latter receded to below $17 again after a strong sell-off. ETC posted a very impressive 20% rise in only a couple of hours, but it fell back slightly to $12.20 later on Wednesday.
Compared to other cryptocurrencies, Cardano was reluctant to go anywhere but was nevertheless trading 5% higher at $0.095.
Smaller cryptocurrencies such as IOT and VET also did well, strengthening by 8% and 13% to $0.46 and $0.008 respectively.
